Free Apps to Keep You Safer

Having been in real estate for more years than I want to count, I have tried to be conscious of personal safety. I recently came across some Apps that will benefit everyone, not just real estate agents. My preference is for free Apps so these fit the bill.
Moby: For a panic button, try www.mymoby.com. It allows you to let others know instantly when you are in danger and where you are. It will alert a predetermined list of contacts who will be notified with your exact locating by sending an “alert” feature on the app. It is available on the IPhone, Android and BlackBerry.
First Aid White Cross: Accidents by nature are unpredictable. In order to be prepared for the unknown, White Cross offers a first aid onĀ availableĀ on the iPhone. Users of the application can find the basics of first aid, CPR, and much more.

Drivesafe.ly: With the recent law change and dangers of texting while driving, this is the perfect app while you’re on the go. Instead of multi-tasking behind the wheel, this application reads both texts and emails aloud so more of your attention is on the road, and less on your phone screen. This can be downloaded for Blackberry, Android and iPhone.
SOS Link: It’s time to use your camera for more than a mobile upload or Instagram post. SOS Link has created an application that allows a user to press a large red button that triggers your phone’s camera to take one photo per second for 30 seconds. These photos will then be sent to a predetermined contact along with your geographical location.
Technology will always be a Catch 22, but it is important for us as consumers to utilize the positivity the technology brings.
