It is incredibly important to focus on not only maintaining the health of our natural environment but improving it as well. The organization, “Heal the Bay“, is a phenomenal group that does just that. “Heal the Bay, a non-profit environmental group, is making Southern California coastal waters and watersheds, including Santa Monica Bay, safe, healthy and clean. We use science, education, community action and advocacy to protect the health of those who swim, surf and play in the ocean, and the animals who call it home.”
For anyone interested in partaking in this great organization, there is a volunteer training session on July 9th from 7pm-9pm at their main office located at 1444 9th Street, Santa Monica, CA. They hold the volunteer orientation on the second Monday of every month to give ample opportunity for anyone interested to participate. If you are interested in volunteering for Heal the Bay, “get started by attending one of our monthly Volunteer Orientations. Learn more about Heal the Bay, our mission, and the many ways that you can get involved. Orientation is an important first step (and required for some volunteer programs).” You can reserve a spot at the orientation (free of charge!) at Heal the Bay’s website, http://www.healthebay.org/event/volunteer-orientation-5.
